AICLA/ANZIIF Claims Convention

The AICLA/ANZIIF Claims Convention (CC19) is the leading insurance claims event in Australasia, attracting delegates, industry experts and world-class speakers from across Australia, New Zealand the Pacific and Asia. This year marks the 13th Claims Convention, a successful collaboration between AICLA and ANZIIF.

Themed ‘Disasters, Disruption & Regulation’, the AICLA/ANZIIF Claims Convention is designed to give claims professionals the insights and knowledge, they need to tackle the key issues facing their sector both now and moving into the future.

A dynamic program is planned, and the event is an ideal opportunity to socialise and network with professionals in the claims industry.

    With 22 years of policing experience at the highest levels, 13 of those as a crisis negotiator, Lance combines advanced communication techniques, psychologically-based safety practices, and personal resilience tips for everyday use to keep ourselves safe and well. He brings together experience from training in New Zealand, Australia, England and the USA while operating with the elite sectors of police, prisons, emergency services, the military, and the FBI. His programmes of applied techniques are grounded in science, simple to use, and extremely effective. Lance has a Diploma in Policing, a Diploma in Business Studies and a Master of Arts majoring in Terrorism, Safety & Security. He published the bestselling book – Behind The Tape – and makes regular media appearances.

    Lance will cover topics such as; why it is that people are becoming overwhelmed in today’s world, how to control emotions in challenging situations, why change can be difficult to accept and/or implement, how to identify the signs of stress in ourselves, and how to bring balance back to our lives. Additionally, he will show us how to motivate and energise ourselves when at work, how to switch off at the end of a busy day, how to get to sleep within just a few breaths, and how to stop waking between 3 & 4 am with feelings of anxiousness.

    Scott is a Director at Taylor Fry with more than 10 years’ consulting experience in general insurance. He has advised a range of insurers and regulators, and holds several appointed actuary roles. Scott is a member of the Actuaries Institute’s Royal Commission Steering Committee. He is a Young Insurance Professional of the Year finalist in the ANZIIF Australian Insurance Industry Awards 2019.

    Having completed an accounting degree, Glenn embarked on a career in banking including ANZ, Suncorp and a brief stint overseas. Moving to insurance in 2007 with Suncorp, he has over 20 years’ experience in financial services, most of which has been with Suncorp. The most rewarding aspect of insurance for Glenn is being able to help customers when they need it most. Spending time with his family is the most important thing for Glenn outside of work, whilst always keen to watch (given his playing days are well behind him) a game of NRL or cricket.

    Jaye Kumar is a Chartered Loss Adjuster (Fellow), Chartered Mechanical Engineer and has a masters in Business Administration. He is an engineering loss adjuster and has worked extensively in South East Asia, UK and for the last 30 years, in Australia.

    Jaye has been actively involved with the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters and has served on the AICLA Board since 1999 and currently holds two prominent roles – as President of AICLA (elected since 2018) and International Development Director for the last decade. He is responsible for expanding AICLA’s membership base across the region and internationally. AICLA has international membership chapters in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam and is further expanding this to the Middle East and Europe.

    Jaye is the founder and Managing Director of VRS ANA Pty Ltd, an international loss adjusting company with offices across Australia, Singapore and globally in association with corporate partners.

    Trevor Young (aka 'the PR Warrior') is a pioneer of Australia's social media and content marketing scene.

    His popular marketing blog PR Warrior, which he started in 2007, has been listed by both Smart Company and Search Engine Journal (SEJ) as one of Australia’s top business blogs. He also produces and hosts Reputation Revolution, a personal branding podcast for business professionals, and is author of two books - microDOMINATION and Content Marketing for PR (due for release in June).

    In 2015 and 2016, Brand Quarterly included Trevor on its annual ‘50 Marketing Thought Leaders Over 50′ list, while the Sydney Morning Herald has named him as one of eight ‘heroes of Australian content marketing’. More recently, Smart Company listed him as one of 20 of Australia’s ‘Top Business Thinkers for 2018’.

    Trevor was a founding member of Social Media Club Melbourne and a contributor to the world’s first accredited Diploma of Social Media Marketing, run by Social Media College. He is also an expert speaker for Squared Online’s digital marketing leadership course, developed with Google.

    Trevor is the founder of Digital Citizen Group and co-founder of Content Leaders Academy.

    Since 2010, Robert Whelan has guided Australia’s insurance industry through some of the most challenging issues of the past few decades. These include the Financial Services Royal Commission, the 2010-11 season of natural disasters, the National Disaster Insurance Review, the Northern Australia Insurance Premiums Taskforce, Financial System Inquiry and five changes In Prime Minister.

    Prior to his appointment Rob had an extensive career in the financial services sector at leading companies including AAMI/Suncorp, Colonial Mutual, Legal & General and AMP. He held senior roles in corporate affairs and policy, strategy, consumer marketing, operations and distribution.
